Lucent Realms Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on Lucent Realms Shaders?
Shader packs run through a shader loader such as Iris or OptiFine. With the loader running, open Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs, select Lucent Realms Shaders and apply it. The world should reload with new lighting.
I put Lucent Realms in my mods folder and nothing changed, why?
Shader packs go in the shaderpacks folder, not the mods folder. Use the Open Shader Pack Folder button on the Shader Packs screen to find the right folder, move the pack there, then select it from that screen.
How can I tell if the shaders are actually working?
Look for soft shadows under trees, buildings and mobs, and for leaves and grass gently waving. You should also see a glow around torches and lanterns. If blocks look flat and plants are still, the pack isn't active.
Why can't I see the volumetric light beams?
The beams appear where light filters through tree canopies and cave openings, so you won't see them in open fields. Stand under a dense forest canopy or just inside a cave mouth on a bright day, and look toward the light.
Why are the leaves and grass moving? Is that a bug?
No, that's an intended feature. The pack adds subtle waving to leaves, grass, crops and tall foliage.
Does Lucent Realms change the sky in the Nether and End?
Yes. The pack has custom sky textures for the Overworld, the Nether and the End. Visit each dimension to see its own look.
How do I get the best-looking water reflections?
Reflections and ripples show up best on open oceans and rivers. Look across the water at a low angle with plenty of sky above you. Small, enclosed pools have less around them to reflect.
My FPS dropped a lot with Lucent Realms Shaders, what can I do?
Real-time shadows and volumetric lighting are the most demanding effects. Lowering your render distance helps the most. Also check the shader options on the Shader Packs screen and turn down shadow or lighting quality for any settings the pack offers.
Do my resource packs still work with Lucent Realms?
Generally yes. The pack changes lighting, shadows, water, sky and plant movement rather than block textures, so most resource packs show through. Packs that replace sky or water textures may look different under the shader.
Does the server need Lucent Realms Shaders installed?
No, shaders are purely client-side visuals. You can use them on any server or in singleplayer. Other players won't see the effects unless they run the pack themselves.
