Forbis’s ! Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on Forbis's ! Shaders?
Put the shader pack file in your shaderpacks folder, then open Video Settings and go to Shader Packs, which comes from Iris or OptiFine. Select Forbis's ! Shaders from the list and apply it.
Why doesn't Forbis's ! Shaders show up in my shader list?
Make sure the file is directly inside the shaderpacks folder and not inside an extra folder. Shader packs also need a shader loader such as Iris or OptiFine, because the vanilla game has no Shader Packs menu.
How do I use the fullbright feature?
Open the shader pack's settings from the Shader Packs screen and switch on the fullbright toggle. Dark areas such as caves and unlit rooms then stay visible without placing torches everywhere.
Is fullbright on all the time?
No, fullbright is a toggle. You can leave it off for normal lighting and moody caves, then turn it on when you need to see clearly in the dark.
What does the colored lighting actually look like?
Light sources add colored tints to their surroundings while the game keeps its classic vanilla look. Lava, glowing blocks and torch-lit builds are good places to see the effect.
Why are the edges of my screen darker with this shader?
That is the shader's built-in vignette, a soft darkening around the screen edges. It is meant to be subtle and frame the view without hiding anything important.
Will Forbis's ! Shaders lag my low-end PC?
It is designed with low performance requirements so it runs smoothly on budget computers. If frame rates still drop, lower your render distance in Video Settings, because that usually costs more than the shader does.
Does Forbis's ! Shaders change how Minecraft looks a lot?
No, it stays vanilla-friendly. It adds colored lighting, a subtle vignette and an optional fullbright mode rather than completely restyling the game.
Do I need to install this on the server for my friends to see it?
No, shader packs run only on your own client. Each player who wants the look needs to load the pack in their own game, and the server does not need it at all.
How do I go back to normal graphics?
Open Video Settings, go to Shader Packs and select the option to turn shaders off. You can switch Forbis's ! Shaders back on from the same screen at any time.
