Dara Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on Dara Shaders?
Open Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs, which is the screen Iris adds. Select Dara Shaders from the list and click Apply or Done. The world reloads with the shader active.
How can I tell if Dara Shaders is actually working?
Look for soft shadows under blocks and trees, moving highlights on water, and a warmer color tone overall. If the game still looks like vanilla, go back to the Shader Packs screen and confirm Dara Shaders is the selected pack, not "Off".
Dara Shaders isn't showing up in my shader pack list, what's wrong?
The pack file needs to sit in the shaderpacks folder inside your Minecraft game directory, and Iris must be installed for that screen to exist. Leave the pack as a zip, because extracting it into loose folders is a common reason it doesn't appear.
Do I need to install Dara Shaders on the server too?
No. Shaders are purely client-side, so only your game needs Iris and the pack. You can use it on any multiplayer server, and other players won't see any difference unless they run it themselves.
Does Dara Shaders work with OptiFine?
Dara Shaders is made for the Iris shader loader, so Iris is the supported way to run it. If you're having problems on another loader, switch to Iris before troubleshooting anything else.
Will Dara Shaders lag my game?
It's designed to run without a heavy FPS drop on many systems, so most players can use it for normal survival. If you do lose frames, lowering your render distance in Video Settings is the quickest fix.
Can I quickly turn the shaders off without going through menus?
Yes. Iris has a toggle-shaders keybind, which is K by default, that switches shaders on and off instantly. This is handy for comparing visuals or getting a quick frame boost during a tough fight.
Why are my caves still really dark with Dara Shaders?
Dara's warm torchlight brightens areas around light sources but doesn't light up caves on its own. Place torches or other light blocks to get the warm glow spreading across nearby walls and floors.
Why do the colors look different in every biome?
That's intended. Dara Shaders uses cinematic color grading that shifts lighting tones from biome to biome, giving each area its own mood rather than one flat look everywhere.
What's the best way to take nice screenshots with Dara Shaders?
Press F1 to hide the HUD, then frame shots that show off soft shadows, water reflections, or torchlit builds at night. Press F2 to save the screenshot, and try a few times of day, because the color grading and lighting change a lot.
