Cosinus Shaders FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I turn on Cosinus Shaders?
You need a shader loader such as Iris or OptiFine. Open Video Settings, go to the Shader Packs (Iris) or Shaders (OptiFine) menu, select Cosinus, then click Apply or Done. The wavy effect should show up as soon as you return to your world.
Why is my whole screen wobbling and warping?
That is the pack working as intended. Cosinus applies screen effects based on cosine math functions, which bend the view into wavy, cursed-looking scenes. It is a stylized novelty pack, not a bug or a broken install.
Cosinus doesn't show up in my shader list, what did I do wrong?
Make sure the pack is inside your game's shaderpacks folder and that it isn't buried inside an extra folder. Also check that Iris or OptiFine is actually loaded, because the vanilla game has no shader menu. Reopen the shader menu afterward so the list refreshes.
Will Cosinus Shaders lag my low-end PC?
It is built to be lightweight and run smoothly on low-end computers without causing frame drops. If you still get stutters, lower your render distance and other heavy video settings, since those usually cost more than the pack itself.
Does Cosinus change block textures or add realistic lighting?
No. It keeps the simple vanilla look of blocks and lighting and only adds the wavy, rule-bending screen effects on top. Don't expect realistic shadows or fancy water like you'd get from heavy realism packs.
Can I use a resource pack together with Cosinus?
Yes. Cosinus doesn't replace textures, so your resource pack still controls how blocks and items look. The cosine warping is simply drawn over whatever textures you have active.
How do I quickly switch back to normal visuals?
Go back into the shader menu and pick the off/none option, then apply. With Iris you can also bind a key to toggle shaders on and off in Controls, which lets you flip between cursed and normal views without opening any menus.
Does Cosinus need to be on the server, and will other players see the effect?
It is purely client-side, so the server doesn't need it. Only you see the wavy effects. Other players see their own normal game unless they also turn the pack on.
Do screenshots and recordings capture the Cosinus effect?
Yes. The normal screenshot key and screen-recording software both capture the frame exactly as it is rendered, waves included. This makes it easy to grab cursed clips to share.
The wavy screen is making me dizzy, what can I do?
Turn the pack off whenever you need to focus or start feeling queasy, and take breaks during long sessions. The constant warping is intentional and can't be made completely still while the pack is active, so use it in short bursts if motion bothers you.
