Bad Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on Bad Shaders?
Open your video settings, go to the shader pack menu, select Bad Shaders from the list and apply it. Then look up at the sky, where the Bad Apple animation plays on the clouds.
Where exactly does the Bad Apple video show up?
It plays on the clouds. Bad Shaders replaces the normal blocky cloud rendering with the black and white animation frames, so you have to look up at the sky to see it.
I turned on Bad Shaders Minecraft but the sky looks normal, why?
Check that clouds are enabled in your video settings, because the animation is drawn where the clouds would be. If clouds are switched off, there is nothing for the video to replace. Also confirm that Bad Shaders is the active shader pack and not just highlighted in the list.
Does Bad Shaders play the Bad Apple music too?
The mod is described as a visual effect: it shows the monochrome animation frame by frame on the clouds. Don't expect it to replace your game audio.
Does the video loop or play only once?
It runs as a loop, so the animation keeps cycling across the sky while you play.
What's the best way to get a good view of the animation?
Find an open area with a clear view of the sky, such as a flat plain or a mountaintop, and look straight up or toward the horizon where the clouds pass. Open daytime skies make the black and white frames easiest to follow. Indoors, underground, or under thick leaves, you won't see much.
Will Bad Shaders change my lighting like other shader packs do?
Not much. It keeps the core lighting simple, and its main change is the animated cloud layer, so don't expect realistic shadows or water effects.
Is Bad Shaders heavy on performance?
It's built as a simple, humorous shader rather than a graphics overhaul, and it keeps lighting basic. If you notice lag, lower your render distance or other video settings the same way you would with any shader pack.
Can I use Bad Shaders together with another shader pack?
No. Only one shader pack can be active at a time, so turning on Bad Shaders replaces whatever pack you were using. To get your usual look back, switch to your other pack in the shader menu.
How do I go back to my normal clouds?
Open the shader pack menu and either turn shaders off or select a different pack, then apply. Your regular clouds come back right away, and you can switch Bad Shaders on again whenever you want the meme sky back.
