Nodeworks Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I start a Nodeworks network from scratch?
Place a Network Controller block, then attach storage blocks (chests, barrels, etc.) to it using vacuum pipes or by placing nodes adjacent to it. Open an Inventory Terminal to see all connected inventories in one place. Check the Nodeworks Book (right-click) for step-by-step setup guides.
What's the difference between a Network Controller and an Inventory Terminal?
The Network Controller is the hub that connects and manages all your nodes and storage blocks. The Inventory Terminal is an access point—you can place multiple terminals on the same network to view and withdraw items from anywhere.
How do I set up autocrafting?
Place a Processing Handler or Crafting CPU near your Network Controller, configure your recipes inside its menu, and link it to storage blocks containing the ingredients. The network will automatically craft items when you request them from an Inventory Terminal or when triggered by redstone signals.
Can I move items between different dimensions?
Yes, use Broadcast Antennas to link networks across dimensions. Set up matching antennas in each dimension and configure them to share recipes and transfer items between networks.
How do I filter which items get stored where?
Use Storage Meters with item tags, NBT data, stack sizes, or regular expressions to define storage rules. You can also use the Scripting Terminal to write custom Lua sorting logic for more complex filtering.
What does the Diagnostic Tool do?
Right-click it on any network block to inspect your network layout, view active crafting jobs, check item totals, and identify connection errors or missing links.
Can I automate block placement and breaking?
Yes, use Placers to place blocks and Breakers to break them, and Users to interact with blocks like furnaces or crafting tables. Link them to your network and control them via scripts or redstone signals.
How do I move items between my Nodeworks network and regular chests?
Place Import and Export Chests connected to your network. Items in an Import Chest will be pulled into the network, and items sent to an Export Chest can be picked up like a normal container.
What's the Scripting Terminal and do I need to learn Lua?
It's an in-game editor for writing Lua scripts to automate sorting, crafting, and item movement with full control. The mod includes autocomplete and hover documentation, so you can learn as you go—it's optional for basic setups but powerful for complex automation.
Why aren't my items moving through the network?
Check that all blocks are properly connected using the Diagnostic Tool, verify the Network Controller has power, and ensure vacuum pipes or node links form a complete path. Also confirm that storage blocks are actually attached to the network and not just placed nearby.
