TacoCraft Mod — Guide

Getting Started: Corn Farming

The foundation of every taco in this mod is Corn. Unlike vanilla crops, Corn has unique harvesting mechanics.

Obtaining Seeds

To begin your farm, you must find Corn Kernels. These are obtained by breaking tall grass, similar to how wheat seeds are found.

Cultivation

Corn must be planted on farmland. It grows through several stages.

Important: When the Corn is fully grown, do not break the block. Instead, right-click the crop to harvest the corn. This allows the plant to remain in the ground and continue producing, while yielding 2-3 pieces of Corn per harvest.

Cooking Stations

TacoCraft adds specialized blocks required for the tortilla-making process. These blocks must be used together to function correctly.

Brick Furnace

The Brick Furnace serves as the heat source for the Comal. It is crafted using 4 Cobblestone and 4 Bricks. It functions similarly to a standard furnace but is designed to support a cooking surface on top.

Comal

The Comal is a traditional flat griddle used to cook tortillas. It is crafted with 7 Iron Ingots and 2 String.

Setup: Place the Comal directly on top of a Brick Furnace.

Open Pot

Added in later versions, the Open Pot is used for more complex recipes like Barbacoa. It is typically used in conjunction with specialized ingredients like Pencas (agave leaves).

Tortilla Production

Making a tortilla is a multi-step process that cannot be done in a standard crafting table or furnace.

  1. Craft Tortilla Dough: Combine 2 pieces of Corn in a crafting grid to create Tortilla Dough.
  2. Heat the Station: Place fuel (Coal, Wood, etc.) into the Brick Furnace located beneath your Comal.
  3. Cook the Dough: Right-click the top of the Comal with the Tortilla Dough. The dough will appear on the surface and begin to sizzle.
  4. Wait: The cooking process takes approximately 15 seconds.
  5. Retrieve: Once finished, right-click the Comal again to pick up your fresh Tortilla.

Crunchy Shells

If you prefer a crunchy taco, take a finished Tortilla and place it inside a standard Minecraft Furnace or Smoker. Cooking it a second time will transform it into a Crunchy Shell.
