Species — Guide

Behaviour

Not every creature reacts to you the same way, which is a large part of what makes the mod feel varied:

  • Passive creatures mostly ignore the player and go about their own routines.
  • Territorial creatures tolerate you until you get too close or provoke them.
  • Hostile creatures will seek the player out, especially at night or underground.

Each creature also has its own animation set and sound design, so you can often recognise what is near you before you see it clearly.

Tips

  • Explore widely: because the creatures are spread across many environments, staying in one biome means you will only ever meet a fraction of them.
  • Treat the night and the deep caves with respect — that is where the hostile and tougher creatures show up.
  • Keep an eye out for the small, easy-to-miss creatures; they add a lot of the world's charm even though they are not threats.
  • The mod works well alongside other content and world-generation mods, so it slots neatly into a larger exploration-focused setup without changing how the base game plays.

Overworld Creatures

These are the creatures you are most likely to meet while exploring in daylight:

  • Wraptor — a brightly coloured winged raptor with huge patterned wings that it spreads out as it moves. It is one of the most eye-catching creatures in the pack.
  • Treeper — a towering tree-like creature that blends in among real trees until it stirs, giving forests a surprise.
  • Cruncher — a stocky burrowing creature that moves through the ground.
  • Quake — a hardy creature suited to dry, open terrain.
  • Goober — a gentle, curious creature that is safe to be around.
  • Birt — a tiny bird that nests inside its own Birt Dwelling block and can be hatched from a Birt Egg.

Smaller oddities such as the Stackatick, Springling, Coil, Limpet and Deepfish round out the roster so different biomes each gain a little extra life.

Night and Underground Creatures

After dark, and deeper underground, the mood changes and a more dangerous set of creatures appears:

  • Spectre — a glowing creature that drifts through the dark and stands out sharply against unlit areas.
  • Bewereager — a werewolf-like hunter that prowls at night.
  • Ghoul, Wicked and Trooper — undead-flavoured creatures that make night-time and cave exploration more tense.
  • Mammutilation — a hulking, powerful creature that is one of the tougher things you can run into.

Because these creatures are tied to darkness and depth, they add real weight to caving and to nights spent away from a safe base.

Items and Gear

The mod is not only about the creatures. It also adds themed gear and drops that tie back to the creatures you meet and fight:

  • Crankbow — a ranged weapon.
  • Spectralibur — a themed blade connected to the Spectre.
  • Wicked Mask — a wearable mask.
  • Werefang — a themed item linked to the Bewereager.
  • Mob Head — a collectible head you can display.

These items give you a reason to hunt specific creatures and a way to show off what you have encountered.
