Entity Status — Guide
The HUD Panel
When your crosshair is over an entity, a compact panel appears (top-left by default) showing:
- A small 3D icon of the entity
- The entity's name
- A segmented health bar with the exact current and maximum health (for example
20/20) - Useful stats such as attack damage and armour
- Icons for any active potion effects
The panel stays visible for a short grace period after you look away, so quick glances still register. Bosses such as the Warden are fully supported and show their large health totals correctly.
In-World Health Bars
As well as the corner panel, Entity Status can float a small health bar above entities directly in the world, so you can see at a glance which nearby mobs are hurt without having to aim at each one.
By default these in-world bars use the Damaged and Nearby activation rule - they appear over entities that are within range and are not at full health. You can change this to always show nearby entities, only show what you are looking at, and several other combinations, so the bars stay as quiet or as informative as you like.
Stats, Effects and Particles
Beyond raw health, Entity Status surfaces the extra information that is normally hidden:
- Stats - attack damage, armour and other attributes, with mount-specific stats for horses and similar entities.
- Potion effects - active effects are shown as their icons on the HUD panel.
- Damage and healing particles - optional floating numbers pop above an entity when it takes damage or heals, in configurable colours, so combat is easy to read.
Boss entities and their special health values are handled correctly, and team-based colouring is available for the damage particles.
Tips
- Leave the HUD panel in the top-left for the most out-of-the-way, always-available readout.
- If you only want floating bars during combat, set the in-world activation to Damaged and Nearby (the default) so healthy mobs stay unmarked.
- Turn on the damage particles to make it obvious how much each hit is doing - handy for testing weapons and enchantments.
- It is fully client-side, so you can use it on any server, including vanilla ones, without the server needing the mod.
