Sandy Catacombs Biome
The Sandy Catacombs is a desolate wasteland. Petrified roots hang from the ceiling, Aridrock & boulders dot the inner cave landscape. Aridrock, Duskrock, and Packed Mud define the typical blocks found here.
Catacombs
- A new structure, where you will find Body Snatchers, Void Soul Knights, Tombs, Paranoia, and Forsaken Bronze Scrap.
- A Paranoia Altar spawns in the center.
- Treasure rooms spawn with Void Soul Knights Guarding the Tombs.
Body Snatcher
- Small Void Soul Monster that spawns naturally in the Sandy Catacombs.
- Has a dash that will activate if the target is further than 10 blocks away.
- 16HP, 3 attack damage.
- Inflicts Paranoia when dealing damage.
Void Soul Knight
- Only spawns in Catacombs Treasure Rooms. Initially, Void Soul Knights are dormant.
- The Knight can be awoken if a player is close enough or it takes damage.
- The Knight has an attack that consists of two swings. The first swing is not dodgeable, but the second swing is.
- Very slow but can track players through walls for up to 30 seconds.
- 80HP, 10 attack damage per swing.
Void Soul
- Void Soul mobs when killed, don't die, but rather are freed into Void Souls.
- This orb is invulnerable but will expire after 60 seconds.
- Upon expiration, the mob which was killed to create the orb will drop their XP.
- Upon right clicking with a glass bottle, Void Souls can be captured into a jar.
- Right clicking with Amber stops them from expiring.
Petrified Wood
- New wood set that has been petrified after many years.
- Can be made by placing a log over a Soul Flame.
- Breakable with pickaxes and axes.
- Not flammable.
Amber
- Obtained by breaking Amber Clusters and found in Catacombs chests.
- Used to make Void Soul Requiems (crafting first into blocks) and Void Soul Torches.
- Right clicking a Void Soul with Amber will prevent it from expiring.
Porous Petrified Log
- Log that continuously grows out amber clusters from its sides.
- Craftable and found in large petrified roots hanging from the ceilings in the Sandy Catacombs.
Forsaken Bronze
- Cursed by the presence of the Void Souls, this Forsaken Bronze allows for unnatural abilities.
- This metal can be used to craft:
- Death Anchor
- Stiletto
- Tombs
Death Anchor
- Sets a death location. When the player is bound to one, the player will always be moved upon death to the location of the Death Anchor. This will save players the journey to where they died as well as guaranteeing that no items will be lost to the void or lava.
- Charge the Death Anchor by giving it a Void Soul Requiem. Only one Death Anchor can be bound per player.
- Upon Death, the player will be given the Soul Binding effect, where the players soul will slowly be consumed, eventually killing them after 10 seconds. The Death Anchor's charge will then be diminished.
Paranoia Altar
- Gives players in the radius the Paranoia effect.
- Found in the Catacombs structure, where initially, the altar is unbreakable. The altar must be given a Void Soul Requiem in order to be broken.
- When in its locked state (before given a Requiem), the Paranoia Altar also summons Body Snatchers around the player. Giving the requiem disables this functionality but will still provide Paranoia. It is not possible to regain this functionality.
Tomb
- Tombs are found in the treasure rooms in the Catacombs.
- They spawn with a skeleton inside, holding a Forsaken Bronze Scrap. In order to take the scrap, the player must have opened the Tomb and right click with an empty hand.
Void Soul Jar
- Obtained by right clicking a Void Soul with a bottle.
- Void Souls can be released from the Jar by also right clicking when not looking at a block, otherwise they will be placed.
- Void Souls released from the jar will always expire after 60 seconds and drop 12 experience, regardless of if the Void Soul was previously right clicked with Amber or was the result of the death of a Void Soul Knight, which would drop 30 experience.
- Void Souls can also be released from their jar using a dispenser.
- Used to craft Void Soul Torches and Void Soul Requiems.
Void Soul Requiem
- A Void Soul 'Binder'.
- Can be used to Remove Curses from any gear for 25 experience in the anvil.
- Interacts with the Paranoia Altar and Death Anchor.
Void Soul Torch
- Used to see 2x further in the Paranoia effect when held in the main or offhand.
Stiletto
- Dagger made from Forsaken Bronze Scrap.
- 2.4 attack speed, 5 attack damage, 400 durability.
- Right clicking allows the user to dash forward on a 10 second cooldown.
- Dashing consumes durability.
- Is unable to perform sweeping edge attacks unlike a normal sword.
- New special Stiletto only enchantments, Swift Strike and Quick Dash.
- Can be enchanted with all normal sword enchantments except for sweeping edge.
Quick Dash
- Reduces the dash cooldown of the Stiletto by 25% per level multiplicative.
- Max level of 3.
Swift Strike
- When dashing with the Stiletto, dealing damage while in the dash will recharge the dash cooldown instantly.
- Max level of 1.
Paranoia
- Heavily increases the fog density around the player. Not as much as blindness, but still very strong.
- Randomly, false footsteps can be heard around the player.
- Holding any torch in the main or offhand can impact the strength of the fog around the player.
- Void Soul Torches are the most impactful, allowing the player to see twice as far.
Soul Binding
- Given upon death while bound to a Death Anchor.
- Unavoidable death will occur after 10 seconds. During that time the player's vision will slowly be consumed as the Death Anchor consumes their soul.
