How to Avoid and Survive Zombie Grab Attacks
Understanding the Grab Mechanic
The updated zombies now feature a new grab animation and attack that can catch players off-guard. When a zombie grabs you, it immobilizes you temporarily, leaving you vulnerable to follow-up damage and poison bites.
Evasion Strategies
Maintain distance from zombies whenever possible. When a zombie begins its grab animation, immediately move perpendicular to it—strafe left or right rather than running straight away. Jumping while moving sideways can also help you escape the grab's range.
Watch for the zombie's body language and animation cues. The grab has a startup animation that gives you a brief window to react. The farther you are when the grab initiates, the less likely it will connect.
Managing Poison Damage
If you do get grabbed and bitten, the zombie's poison damage will persist after the grab ends. Have healing items ready, such as healing potions or food. Consider keeping antidote items or status effect cures in your hotbar when exploring areas with high zombie density. Maintaining high health makes poison damage less threatening.
