Troubleshoot Shadows Looking Wrong or Flickering

Check Shadow Distance Settings

If shadows flicker or disappear as you move, your shadow distance may be set too low. Increase it gradually until shadows remain stable. Very high distances can cause performance issues, so find a middle ground.

Verify Shadow Resolution

Low shadow resolution can create blocky or pixelated shadows. Increase shadow resolution if your hardware allows. This improves shadow quality and reduces visual artifacts.

Reset Shader Configuration

If settings feel corrupted or shadows behave unexpectedly, reset the shader options to default and reconfigure them step by step. This often resolves strange visual glitches.

Confirm Compatibility

Ensure your graphics driver is up to date. Outdated drivers can cause shader rendering issues, including shadow problems. Update your GPU drivers and restart Minecraft.

Test in Different Locations

Shadows may look different in caves versus open sky. Check shadows in multiple environments—underground, in forests, and in open plains—to confirm the issue isn't location-specific.

Reduce Other Visual Mods

If you use multiple visual enhancement mods, they may conflict. Try disabling other mods temporarily to isolate whether Zer0's Shaders is the source of shadow problems.
