Zer0’s Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I enable the shader after installing it?
Open Options > Video Settings > Shaders, then locate Zer0's Shaders in the list and select it. The shader will activate immediately, though you may need to restart your world for all effects to fully load.
Why do my shadows look choppy or flicker?
Flickering shadows usually occur when shadow quality is set too high for your hardware. Lower the shadow distance or quality in the shader settings, and ensure your render distance isn't extremely high, which can strain shadow calculations.
Can I use this shader with other mods?
Yes, Zer0's Shaders works with most mods, but incompatibilities can occur with mods that heavily modify lighting or rendering. If you experience visual glitches, try disabling other visual mods to isolate the cause.
How do I adjust the bloom effect on light sources?
Look for bloom or glow intensity settings in the shader options menu. You can usually increase or decrease bloom strength to make torches and lanterns glow more or less prominently.
Will this shader work on my low-end PC?
Yes—the mod includes balanced profiles for low and medium hardware. Start with low shadow quality and reduce shadow distance if you experience lag, and disable bloom if needed for smoother performance.
Why does my world look too dark at night?
Zer0's Shaders darkens nights realistically, but you can adjust ambient brightness or enable a night brightness slider in the shader settings to make caves and nighttime more visible without breaking immersion.
Do I need OptiFine or Iris to use this shader?
Yes, you need a shader loader—either OptiFine or Iris—installed before Zer0's Shaders will work. The shader pack itself is just the visual files; the loader handles compatibility with your Minecraft version.
Why do shadows disappear or look wrong indoors?
Indoor shadows can behave strangely because the shader calculates shadows based on sun and moon position. This is normal; if it's distracting, you can lower shadow intensity in the settings or adjust the shadow distance to reduce indoor shadow artifacts.
Can I customize individual settings like shadow color or light softness?
Yes, open the shader options menu in-game to tweak shadow softness, color grading, bloom intensity, and other parameters. Most settings take effect immediately, though some may require a world reload.
Is this shader compatible with resource packs?
Yes, Zer0's Shaders works alongside resource packs and maintains the vanilla art style, so most packs won't clash with it. However, very bright or heavily filtered resource packs may look odd combined with the shader's lighting.
