Wither Fights Explained

Behaviour

Wither's Wrath improves the wither by including three distinct phases, each becoming progressively more aggressive and unpredictable. It attacks primarily by launching explosive Wither skulls, but gains new abilities and behaviours as its health drops.

At the start, the Wither behaves similarly to its vanilla form. Firing standard skulls, flying freely, and breaking blocks around it. However, it gradually becomes more dangerous, developing homing projectiles, summoning enhanced mobs, and unleashing devastating charge attacks. It also passively corrupts nearby mobs and spreads environmental destruction by breaking blocks, avoiding bedrock, and converting entities around it.

Recommended Gear

This Boss does a LOT of damage, full enchanted diamond armour might still struggle, but that's the minimum recommended.

Phase 1

  • Tridents, Bows, Crossbows are all mutually decent.
  • Shield to block homing skulls is also advised; you can alternatively try to hide behind blocks.

Phase 2

  • Any sword with Smite will do near double the damage it would with sharpness.
  • Strength pots are always a bonus and nice to have
  • Healing, such as pots and golden apples.

Phase 3

  • If you have a Mace, now is your time to shine. Any hit from the knockback of the wither does a ton of damage, at least from my testing in single player.

Wither's Wrath

Phase 1 – Spawn

  • Fires normal Wither skulls that occasionally cause larger explosions.
  • Passively breaks nearby blocks and moves away from bedrock. Can destroy obsidian.

  • Gains increased defence.

Charge Attack (250 HP Trigger)

  • Charge attack: Glows and plays a sound.

  • Leaves behind wither effect clouds that linger briefly.

Attack Enhancements

  • All previous attacks are buffed:
    • Homing skulls become significantly faster.
    • Skeleton summoning occurs twice as often.
    • Each Wither Skeleton spawn causes the Wither to release 24 Wither skulls in a downward radial blast that explode after 1 second.

Upgraded Charge

  • Charge attack becomes a triple dash:
    • First dash occurs as usual.
    • Half-second delay between each dash.
    • Each dash is faster than the last.

Dash Attack

  • Frequently performs a quick burst dash toward the nearest player.
  • This dash attack knocks players into the air but does no direct damage.

This burst attack allows shoots you up into the sky, you can use this along with a mace to deal high damage
