Voxel Map Updated Plugin FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I open the minimap and world map?
Press the map key (default is M) to toggle the minimap on your screen, and press it again or use the dedicated world map key to open the full world map view. You can rebind these keys in your mod settings.
Why isn't my map showing explored areas I've already visited?
The map only records areas you've actively explored while the mod is enabled; if you traveled before installing it, those areas won't appear. The map updates in real-time as you move, so newly explored chunks will appear on your next visit.
How do I create and save waypoints?
Open the world map and right-click on a location to create a waypoint, then name it and choose which dimension it belongs to. You can also set waypoints from the minimap menu; saved waypoints persist across game sessions.
Can I teleport to my waypoints?
Yes, you can teleport directly to any saved waypoint by clicking it on the map, though this feature may be disabled on some servers depending on admin settings. Single-player worlds allow unrestricted teleportation to your waypoints.
How does the mob radar work and what mobs does it show?
The mob radar displays nearby animals and monsters on your minimap using different colors or icons so you can spot threats before they reach you. It shows both passive mobs like animals and hostile mobs like zombies and creepers within a certain detection range.
Does the map work in the Nether and End?
Yes, the map tracks your exploration in all dimensions including the Nether and End, and biome coloring helps you navigate the Nether's varied terrain. Each dimension maintains its own separate map data.
What do the different colors on the map mean?
Colors represent different biomes—for example, green for forests, sand-colored for deserts, and blue for water—making it easy to spot biome boundaries and plan your route. You can usually customize these colors in the mod settings.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues?
Voxel Map Updated Plugin is generally lightweight, but storing large world maps can use memory; if you experience lag, try reducing the map's render distance or disabling the mob radar. Performance impact is usually minimal on modern systems.
Can I use this mod on multiplayer servers?
Yes, the mod works on multiplayer servers and tracks the shared world map, though some servers may disable waypoint teleportation for balance reasons. Check with your server admin if teleportation isn't working.
How do I delete or edit a waypoint I no longer need?
Open the world map, find your waypoint, and right-click it to access options to rename, move, or delete it. Changes are saved automatically.
