Verify the Data Pack is Working Correctly
Check Your World Generation
After installing the data pack, the best way to confirm it's active is to explore newly generated terrain and look for the absence of Abandoned Cities.
Steps to Verify
1. Create a new world or travel to unexplored chunks in your existing world
2. Explore multiple biomes — walk through Deep Dark biomes, ancient cities typically generate here
3. Look for the characteristic structure — Abandoned Cities are large, multi-level ruins with distinctive sculk blocks and ancient architecture
4. Check your data pack list — open your world settings and confirm the data pack appears in your active packs
Troubleshooting
If you still see Abandoned Cities spawning:
- Ensure the data pack is above any conflicting packs in your load order
- Delete pre-generated chunks where cities may have already spawned, or explore only new terrain
- Verify the data pack folder is in your world's
datapacksdirectory - Restart your game completely after adding the data pack
The data pack works passively — once enabled, no configuration is needed. New chunks will generate without Abandoned City structures.
