Useful Hats Mod — Guide

Hats and Headwear

The mod adds 13 unique hats, each with distinct crafting recipes and functional benefits. Below is an exhaustive list of all available headwear.

Aquanaut Helmet

  • Effect: Grants the Conduit Power effect for 1 minute, allowing for underwater breathing and vision. However, it slightly restricts the player's field of view.
  • Durability: 600
  • Armor: +2
  • Recipe: 4x Scute, 1x Turtle Shell, 1x Glass Pane.

Bunny Ears

  • Effect: Provides Jump Boost II and allows the player to eat food twice as fast.
  • Durability: 450
  • Armor: +1
  • Recipe: 2x Rabbit Hide, 3x Carrot.

Chopping Hat

  • Effect: Increases wood chopping speed with an axe by 20%. This stacks with Efficiency enchantments.
  • Durability: 300
  • Armor: +2
  • Recipe: 5x Rabbit Hide (helmet shape).

Ender Helmet

  • Effect: Allows teleportation to a saved location.
  • Usage: Sneak + Right-click a block while holding the helmet to set a destination. While wearing the helmet, using an Ender Pearl will teleport you to that saved location (including across dimensions).
  • Durability: 150
  • Armor: +2
  • Recipe: 5x Ender Pearl (helmet shape).

Halo

  • Effect: Prevents hostile monsters (except bosses) from attacking the player unless provoked.
  • Note: This effect is less reliable in the Nether, where certain mobs may still be aggressive.
  • Durability: 600
  • Armor: +5
  • Recipe: 4x Glowstone Dust, 1x Nether Star.

Lucky Hat

  • Effect: Grants the Luck effect while holding an axe, sword, or fishing rod.
  • Drawback: After killing a mob or catching a fish, the player receives Bad Luck for 10 seconds.
  • Durability: 300
  • Armor: +1
  • Recipe: 4x Lime Wool, 1x Rabbit's Foot.

Mining Hat

  • Effect: Increases mining speed with a pickaxe by 20%. While holding a pickaxe in dark areas, it provides Night Vision.
  • Durability: 450
  • Armor: +2
  • Recipe: 4x Cobblestone, 1x Iron Pickaxe.

Mushroom Hat

  • Effect: Automatically feeds the player when hungry. Each "bite" taken from the hat restores hunger but reduces the hat's durability.
  • Durability: 60
  • Armor: +1
  • Recipe: 5x Mushroom Block (Red or Brown).

Postman Hat

  • Effect: Grants Speed I while sprinting.
  • Drawback: Sprinting with this hat also applies the Hunger effect, causing hunger to deplete faster.
  • Durability: 600
  • Armor: +1
  • Recipe: 4x Lapis Lazuli, 1x Gold Nugget.

Shulker Helmet

  • Effect: Grants the Levitation effect, allowing the player to float upwards continuously while worn.
  • Durability: 600
  • Armor: +2
  • Recipe: 4x Phantom Membrane, 1x Shulker Shell.

Straw Hat

  • Effect: Increases digging speed with a shovel and mining speed with a hoe by 20%.
  • Durability: 300
  • Armor: +1
  • Recipe: 5x Wheat (helmet shape).

Stocking Cap

  • Effect: Primarily cosmetic and dyeable. During the month of December, it automatically adopts a festive Christmas design.
  • Durability: 100
  • Armor: +1
  • Recipe: 4x White Wool, 1x Red Wool.

Wing Helmet

  • Effect: Grants the Slow Falling effect while the player is in the air.
  • Note: The helmet is "afraid" of monsters and may occasionally fly off the player's head if hostile mobs are nearby.
  • Durability: 600
  • Armor: +1
  • Recipe: 3x Phantom Membrane, 2x Feather.

Mechanics

Dyeing

All hats in the mod can be dyed using standard Minecraft dyes. To dye a hat, place the hat and the desired dye in a crafting grid. This allows players to match their utility gear with their aesthetic preferences.

Enchanting

Useful Hats can be enchanted to improve their base statistics: * Efficiency: Increases the speed boost of the Chopping, Mining, and Straw hats (up to 150%). It also increases the speed level of the Postman Hat and the levitation level of the Shulker Helmet. * Respiration: Increases the duration of the Conduit Power effect provided by the Aquanaut Helmet (up to 4 minutes). * Unbreaking/Mending: Highly recommended for the Mushroom Hat and Ender Helmet to prevent them from breaking during use.

Durability Consumption

Hats typically lose durability only when their specific effect is active. For example, the Mining Hat loses durability while the player is mining blocks, and the Mushroom Hat loses durability every time it restores the player's hunger.
