True Stars Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need to enable True Stars Shaders after installing it?
True Stars works as a core shader, so it activates automatically once installed—you don't need to toggle it on in a menu. If stars aren't appearing, check that your shader settings haven't been overridden by another mod or that you're looking at the night sky (stars won't show during day or in caves).
Why do the stars look dim or barely visible?
Star brightness depends on your in-game brightness setting and any light pollution from nearby blocks or mods. Try adjusting the star brightness setting in the shader configuration, or move away from artificial light sources to see the effect better.
Can I make the stars different colors?
Yes—the mod includes color intensity settings that let you adjust how vibrant the star colors appear. You can tweak these values in the shader's configuration file to make colors more or less saturated.
Will True Stars Shaders slow down my game?
True Stars is designed to be lightweight and shouldn't cause major performance drops on most systems. If you experience lag, try the performance optimization guide, which covers reducing star count or adjusting render distance settings.
Can I use True Stars with other shader mods at the same time?
True Stars is a core shader, so running it alongside other full shader packs may cause conflicts or visual glitches. Check the compatibility guide for which mods and shaders work well together, or test with one shader at a time.
The stars are flickering too much or not flickering at all—how do I fix it?
The twinkle effect can be adjusted through the shader's flicker intensity setting. If stars aren't twinkling, make sure the effect is enabled in your configuration; if it's too intense, lower the flicker value.
Do the stars move or change position?
Stars remain fixed in the sky like vanilla Minecraft stars—True Stars only changes their appearance (brightness, color, and flicker), not their position or rotation.
Why do stars look wrong or glitchy with my other mods?
Some mods that alter sky rendering or lighting can conflict with True Stars. See the troubleshooting guide for steps to identify conflicting mods and adjust shader settings to fix visual issues.
Can I see the stars during the day or in the Nether?
Stars only appear during night in the Overworld, as in vanilla Minecraft—True Stars doesn't change when stars are visible, only how they look. The Nether and End don't have stars in standard Minecraft.
How do I reset the shader settings if I mess up the configuration?
Delete or rename the shader's configuration file, then restart your game to regenerate it with default values. This will restore all brightness, color, and flicker settings to their original state.
