Set Up Automatic Path Restoration

Restoring Terrain Over Time

Trail Paths can automatically convert changed blocks back to their original state after a set duration. This keeps your world from becoming completely covered in paths and maintains a fresh appearance.

Configuration Steps

1. Open your Trail Paths configuration file.

2. Locate the restoration or decay settings section.

3. Enable path restoration and set the time interval (this determines how long a path block remains before reverting).

4. Specify which blocks should restore and what they should return to. For example, dirt paths revert to grass blocks.

5. Save the file and use /trails reload to apply the changes.

How It Works

Once enabled, any block changed by player footsteps will automatically revert to its original state after the configured time passes. This creates a dynamic world where frequently traveled routes stay as paths, while abandoned trails gradually disappear.

Considerations

Shorter restoration times keep the world cleaner but may feel unnatural. Longer times create more permanent-looking roads. Test different intervals to find what suits your server's aesthetic.
