Trail Paths Plugin FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I start making trails?
Type /trails on to enable your personal trail generation, then walk across any ground block. The blocks beneath your feet will change according to your server's path settings. Type /trails off whenever you want to stop leaving footprints.
Can I turn off trails just in certain areas?
Yes—your server admin can configure specific regions or world areas where trail generation is disabled. Ask your server owner to check the Disable Trails for Specific Players or Areas guide if you need certain zones protected from path changes.
Do my trails disappear automatically?
Only if your server admin has enabled automatic path restoration in the settings. If enabled, changed blocks will revert to their original type after a set time period; otherwise, trails remain permanent until manually restored.
Why aren't my trails showing up?
Check that /trails is actually on by typing /trails (it should confirm your status), and make sure you're walking on block types your server is configured to change. See the Troubleshoot Paths Not Appearing guide if trails still don't appear after confirming these steps.
Can admins stop specific players from making trails?
Yes—server administrators can disable trail generation for individual players or groups through the plugin configuration. Players can also toggle their own trails off with /trails off if they prefer not to leave footprints.
What blocks can turn into paths?
Your server admin decides which blocks are affected and what they change into—this is fully customizable. Common setups turn grass blocks into dirt paths, but any block type can be configured as a source or destination.
Do trails look natural or do they all look the same?
The plugin mixes multiple block types together based on percentages, so paths look varied and natural rather than uniform. Your admin can customize these percentages when setting up custom path textures.
Will this mod lag my server?
Trail Paths Plugin is lightweight since it only changes blocks where players walk, but heavy traffic in one area could cause minor performance impact on very large servers. If you experience lag, ask your admin to check the plugin settings or reduce the number of active trail-generating players.
Can I see who created a trail?
The plugin doesn't track individual player ownership of trails—it only records that a path was created when someone walked there. All trails look the same regardless of who made them.
How do I make custom path block textures?
Your server admin needs to configure which blocks appear in paths and their mix percentages in the plugin settings. Refer to the Create a Custom Path Block Texture guide for detailed setup instructions.
