How to Stay Cool in Hot Biomes and the Nether

Light Armor and Shade

Heat builds fast in deserts, badlands, and the Nether. Swap heavy armor for lighter options and use Leaf gear: Leaf Veil, Leaf Poncho, Leaf Pants, and Leaf Greaves. These pieces reduce heat load compared to full metal armor. Stay in shade, avoid standing in direct sun, and keep moving toward cooler ground when the gauge climbs.

Monitor with the Temperature Gauge

Place a Temperature Gauge to see your temperature. In the Nether, watch it constantly — the ambient heat pushes you toward overheating even without fire nearby. When the gauge spikes, retreat to a cooler spot or dive into water if available.

Thermoregulator and Water

The Thermoregulator block stabilizes temperature in a base, so build one in your Nether outpost or desert shelter. Drinking Purified Water Bottle or a Purified Water Canteen tier also helps manage thirst while you manage heat. Keep a filled Purified Water Canteen on your hotbar.

Nether Routine

1. Equip Leaf Veil, Leaf Poncho, Leaf Pants, and Leaf Greaves.

2. Carry a Purified Water Canteen tier for thirst.

3. Place a Temperature Gauge at your Nether base.

4. Build a Thermoregulator to hold temperature steady.

If the gauge keeps rising, leave the open lava areas and move to a covered position until it drops.
