Using the Part Builder and Patterns

What the Part Builder Does

The Part Builder uses the tconstruct:part_builder recipe type. It turns a pattern plus a material into a tool part. Patterns are shaped like the part you want — an Adze Head pattern produces an Adze Head, a Broad Blade pattern produces a Broad Blade, and so on. The tconstruct:item_part_builder recipe type (116 entries) covers the full range of buildable parts.

Parts You Can Build

Common parts include Adze Head, Broad Axe Head, Broad Blade, Bow Grip, Bow Limb, Arrow Head, Arrow Shaft, Arrow Fletching, Boot Plating, and Chest Plating. Each has a matching Gold Cast, Sand Cast, and Red Sand Cast for casting instead of building. The Part Builder is the wood-and-stone route; casting is the metal route.

Materials Matter

When you build a part, the material you feed in sets its properties. Wood parts are cheap and repairable; stone parts are tougher; metal parts (cast from Cobalt, Manyullyn, Hepatizon, Rose Gold, Pig Iron, Slimesteel, Soulsteel, Knightslime, Cinderslime, Amethyst Bronze, or Steel) trade cost for performance. Build a full set of parts for a tool — head, handle, binding — then assemble at the Tinker Station using tconstruct:tool_building.
