Applying and Stacking Tinkers' Construct Modifiers

Choose the Right Modifier Recipe Type

Modifiers are applied through several recipe types: tconstruct:modifier, tconstruct:incremental_modifier, tconstruct:multilevel_modifier, and tconstruct:multilevel_incremental_modifier. A plain modifier recipe applies the upgrade in one step. An incremental_modifier can be applied repeatedly, each time adding another level. Multilevel variants support multiple tiers within a single modifier entry.

Common modifier items you will use include Reinforced, Haste, Luck, Sharpness, Diamond, Emerald, Netherite, Silky, Autosmelt, Blasting, Bane Of Sssss, Antiaquatic, Bounce, Bouncy, Boundless, Blockade, Blocking, Bonking, Blunted, Blindshot, Barebow, Ambidextrous, Aqua Affinity, Blast Protection, Brushing, and Boot Plating.

Slot Management

Each tool has a limited number of modifier slots. Applying a modifier consumes slots; incremental modifiers consume one slot and then accept further levels. If you run out of slots, you cannot add more until you free them or use a tool with more slots.

To apply a modifier, place the tool and the required modifier item into the relevant station and run the recipe. For incremental modifiers, repeat the same recipe with additional modifier items to raise the level. Multilevel modifiers follow their own tier progression and may require different items at each tier. Plan your slots before committing, because removing a modifier is not part of the standard modifier recipes.
