How to Craft and Use Magic Maps and Maze Maps

Blank Maps First

Start with a Blank Magic Map, a Blank Maze Map, or a Blank Maze/Ore Map. These are the empty versions you fill in as you explore. Carry one with you while you travel so it records the terrain you pass through.

Maze Maps and Ore Maps

A Blank Maze Map is used for mapping maze structures. A Blank Maze/Ore Map tracks both the maze layout and ore locations, which is helpful when you are hunting for resources underground. Fill each blank map by exploring the area it covers, then keep the completed map in your inventory or store it in a Canopy Chest or Darkwood Chest at your base.

Organizing Your Maps

Build a map room using Canopy Bookshelf or a Canopy Chest to hold finished maps. If you are mapping several regions, label your storage so you do not mix up a maze map with an ore map. Blank maps are the starting point every time, so craft extras before a long expedition. Once a map is filled, it becomes a permanent record of that area, letting you plan routes back to structures you have already found. Pair map exploration with jerky from your Drying Rack so you can stay out longer without returning for food.
