Build and Operate a Charcoal Pit
Preparing Your Materials
Before building a charcoal pit, gather a large quantity of wood logs. You'll also need stone blocks for the pit structure itself. Check your quest book for the exact block arrangement—charcoal pits have a specific multi-block design that must be built correctly to function.
Constructing the Pit
Place blocks in the pattern shown in your quest guide. The pit is typically a hollow structure with walls and an opening. Once the frame is complete, fill the interior with stacked wood logs.
Lighting and Harvesting
Light the top of the pit with fire. The wood will slowly burn down into charcoal over time. Do not break the pit structure while it's burning—let it complete its cycle. When finished, the charcoal will be ready to collect.
Using Charcoal
Charcoal serves as fuel for your stone furnaces and early smelting operations. Store it safely and build multiple pits if you plan to smelt large quantities of ore. Charcoal is essential for progressing to copper and bronze working.
