Sylvan Drift Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on falling leaves after installing the mod?
Falling leaves are enabled by default once you install Sylvan Drift Mod and launch the game. If you don't see them, open your in-game settings screen and check that particle density isn't set to zero, then verify you're in a biome that supports leaf particles like forests or jungles.
Why aren't particles showing up in my world?
Check that your particle density setting isn't turned down too low in the mod's config menu. Also make sure you're standing close enough to trees—particles spawn beneath tree canopies within a limited range. If using a shader pack, try the shader-optimized performance preset to see if that resolves the issue.
Can I use this mod on a vanilla multiplayer server?
Yes, Sylvan Drift Mod runs entirely on the client side, so you can join any vanilla Minecraft server without the server needing the mod installed. Only you will see the particle effects.
Does this mod change how trees look or drop items?
No, Sylvan Drift Mod only adds visual particle effects and doesn't modify tree block models, wood drops, or any core gameplay mechanics. Trees function exactly as they do in vanilla Minecraft.
How do I reduce lag from the particles?
Open the mod settings and either select a lower performance preset or manually decrease particle density and particle size. You can also reduce wind speed if it's enabled, as this affects how many particles are active at once.
What's the difference between the performance presets?
The mod includes presets optimized for low-end computers (fewer particles), standard gameplay (balanced visuals and performance), and shader setups (adjusted to work smoothly with custom shader packs). Choose the one that matches your setup.
Do different tree types have different colored particles?
Yes—oak and dark oak drop green leaves, spruce trees release thin needles, jungle and mangrove produce dense tropical foliage, cherry blossom trees drop pink petals, and azaleas add delicate floral particles. Each tree type has matching visuals.
Can I customize particles for specific biomes?
Yes, you can adjust particle density, size, wind speed, and wind direction globally through the settings menu to customize how particles behave across all biomes. The mod automatically spawns the correct particle type for each biome's trees.
Will this mod work with my shader pack?
Yes, Sylvan Drift Mod is designed to work alongside shader packs. If particles look off with your shaders, try switching to the shader-optimized performance preset in the mod settings.
What do I need to install besides the mod file?
You need to install the Cloth Config library alongside the Sylvan Drift Mod file. Both are required for the mod to run and for the in-game settings menu to work.
