Experience Lava's Thick, Hot Appearance
Enable Parallax Occlusion Mapping
Stylized Liquids includes Parallax Occlusion Mapping (POM) for lava, which makes it appear thick, layered, and genuinely hot. This effect requires shader support to display properly.
Steps:
1. Install a shader pack that supports POM effects
2. Load your world with both the resource pack and shader active
3. Approach lava in the Nether, near volcanoes, or in caves
4. Look at the lava surface—it should appear raised and textured rather than flat
5. The effect creates the illusion of depth and viscosity
Adjusting the Effect
If lava looks too extreme or subtle:
- Check your shader's POM settings in the configuration menu
- Some shaders let you adjust parallax depth or intensity
- Experiment with different shader packs to find the look you prefer
Note: Without shaders, lava will still use the stylized painted textures but won't display the 3D parallax effect.
