Stylized Liquids Resource Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need shaders to use this resource pack?
No, the pack works without shaders and maintains a clean, stylized look on its own. However, shaders unlock the full potential of the normal maps and make the liquids appear much more detailed and reflective.
Why does my lava look flat even with this pack installed?
Lava's Parallax Occlusion Mapping (POM) effect requires shader support to display properly. If you're playing without shaders, lava will appear stylized but without the thick, dimensional effect—this is normal.
Can I use this pack with other resource packs?
Yes, but place Stylized Liquids higher in your resource pack list if you want its liquid textures to take priority. If another pack also modifies water or lava, whichever is loaded last will be used.
How do I make water look its best?
Pair the pack with a shader that supports normal maps, then check your shader settings for options like wave height, reflection strength, or parallax depth. The guide 'Make Water Look Best with Shaders' covers specific shader adjustments.
Will this pack affect my FPS?
The resource pack itself has minimal impact on performance. Performance depends mainly on your shader pack—shaders with advanced lighting and reflections will have a larger effect than the textures alone.
Does this work with Optifine?
Yes, the pack is compatible with Optifine and will display normal maps correctly when Optifine is installed. Make sure Optifine's shader settings are enabled if you want to use shaders alongside this pack.
Can I switch between shader and non-shader mode without reinstalling?
Yes, you can enable or disable shaders anytime without removing the pack. The 'Switch Between Shader and Non-Shader Gameplay' guide explains how to adjust your setup for each mode.
Why do my water and lava still look vanilla?
Check that the resource pack is enabled in your resource pack menu and placed above any conflicting packs. If you're using shaders, verify that normal map support is enabled in your shader settings.
Can I customize how the liquids look?
The pack itself doesn't include in-game customization, but you can adjust appearance through shader settings or by editing the pack files directly. The 'Customize Liquid Appearance for Your World' guide covers both approaches.
Does this pack work in multiplayer servers?
Yes, resource packs are client-side only, so you can use this pack on any server without affecting other players or requiring server permission.
