Staff of Building Mod — Guide
Mechanics
Basic Usage
To use a staff, hold it in your main hand and right-click on the face of a block. The staff will attempt to place identical blocks from your inventory in a grid pattern extending from that face.
- Placement Rules: The staff will only place blocks if there is air or a replaceable block (like tall grass) in the target area. It will not overwrite existing solid blocks.
- Block Sourcing: The mod checks your main inventory first, then your offhand. If you are holding a specific block in your offhand, the staff will use that block as a "palette," allowing you to place a different block type than the one you clicked on.
Placement Radius
The "Radius" stat determines the size of the square area the staff can fill: * Radius 1: Places a 3x3 grid (up to 9 blocks). * Radius 3: Places a 7x7 grid (up to 49 blocks). * Radius 5: Places an 11x11 grid (up to 121 blocks).
Undo Function
If you make a mistake or misplace a large section of blocks, you can quickly undo the action. While holding the staff used for the placement, press Ctrl + Z (or Cmd + Z on macOS). This will remove the placed blocks and return them to your inventory, though durability consumed during the initial placement is typically not refunded.

Items
The mod introduces six distinct staffs, each tied to a specific material tier. As the material quality increases, so does the efficiency and longevity of the tool.
Staff Tiers and Statistics
| Staff Tier | Placement Radius | Durability | Special Properties |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wooden Staff | 1 (3x3 Area) | 100 | Basic entry-level tool. |

| Iron Staff | 3 (7x7 Area) | 500 | Reliable mid-game construction tool. |
| Golden Staff | 4 (9x9 Area) | 150 | High range but very low durability. |
| Diamond Staff | 4 (9x9 Area) | 1000 | High-end tool for massive projects. |

Recipes
All staffs (except Netherite) are crafted using a standard diagonal "Wand" pattern in a 3x3 Crafting Table.
Standard Crafting Pattern
Replace [Material] with Planks, Cobblestone, Iron Ingots, Gold Ingots, or Diamonds.
- Top Row: [Material], [Material], [Empty]
- Middle Row: [Empty], [Stick], [Material]
- Bottom Row: [Empty], [Empty], [Stick]
Netherite Staff
The Netherite Staff is an upgrade to the Diamond Staff and must be created using a Smithing Table.
| Input A | Input B | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Diamond Staff | Netherite Ingot | Netherite Staff |
Note: In newer versions of Minecraft (1.20+), a Smithing Template may also be required depending on the specific mod version configuration.
