SpudLight Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I start using SpudLight Shaders after installing it?
Launch Minecraft, go to Options > Video Settings > Shaders, and select SpudLight Shaders from your shader pack folder. The shaders will apply immediately to your world.
Why do my shadows look too dark or too light?
Open the shader settings menu (usually by pressing a key like R or through the shader options in Video Settings) and adjust the Shadow Intensity slider to your preference. You can also change shadow direction to match your desired sun angle.
The god rays are too bright and blocking my view. How do I fix this?
Access the shader configuration and look for a God Rays or Light Rays intensity setting, then reduce it to a lower value. You can also disable god rays entirely if they interfere with visibility.
Can I use SpudLight Shaders with mods that add new blocks or mobs?
Yes, SpudLight Shaders is compatible with most content mods since it only affects lighting and visual effects, not block or mob definitions. However, custom blocks may not cast shadows properly until the shader is updated to recognize them.
My FPS dropped after installing the shaders. What can I do?
Try disabling or reducing plant and water animations, lowering shadow quality, or reducing god ray intensity in the shader settings. If performance is still poor, ensure your graphics drivers are up to date and consider lowering your render distance.
Do the plant and water animations affect performance much?
Animations have a minor performance impact on most systems, but you can disable them entirely in the shader options if you need every frame. Disabling animations will give you a small FPS boost without losing other visual features.
Why do some blocks not cast shadows?
SpudLight Shaders prioritizes performance by only shadowing solid blocks and mobs; transparent or partial blocks like glass or leaves may not cast shadows. This is intentional to keep frame rates high on budget hardware.
Can I use this shader pack with Optifine?
SpudLight Shaders is designed to work as a standalone shader pack and may conflict with Optifine's shader system. Use one or the other, not both, for best results.
The world looks too bright or washed out. How do I adjust the overall brightness?
Check the shader settings for a Brightness or Exposure slider and adjust it downward for a darker look. You can also modify the Ambient Light setting to control how bright unlit areas appear.
Will SpudLight Shaders work on my integrated graphics card?
Yes, SpudLight Shaders is specifically optimized for budget and integrated graphics cards. If you experience lag, reduce shadow quality and disable animations in the shader options.
