Manage Infected Animals and Prevent Mound Multiplication

The Animal Problem

When normal animals fall to the fungal sickness, they transform into special infected creatures that actively create new mounds. This accelerates infection spread dramatically and can overwhelm your defenses if left unchecked.

Prevention

1. Keep animals away from infected zones—build your farms and animal pens far from biomass and mounds.

2. Protect livestock early by establishing pens before the infection reaches your area.

3. Monitor animal behavior—if animals begin acting strangely or moving toward infected blocks, they may already be sickened.

4. Cull infected animals immediately before they can create new mounds. Use axes or weapons to eliminate them quickly.

Containment

  • If you use Alex's Mobs, be aware that those animals can also catch the sickness and spread it—treat them with the same caution.
  • Establish a perimeter around your base where no animals roam, reducing the chance of infection spreading through livestock.
  • Monitor mound growth patterns—if new mounds appear in unexpected locations, infected animals likely created them.

Preventing animal infection is easier than managing the resulting mounds, so prioritize keeping your animals in safe zones.
