Spore Inquisition Data Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
What do I do when the REDNIGHT mound falls at the start?
The REDNIGHT mound marks the infection's origin point and cannot be destroyed. You can run away from it to buy time, or establish your base far enough away that the spreading infection takes longer to reach you. The farther you settle, the more time you have to prepare defenses.
How do I stop the infection from spreading toward my base?
You cannot stop the infection permanently, but you can slow it by destroying mounds and infected blocks before they expand further. Use an axe to break biomass blocks quickly, and focus on clearing infected areas near your base to create a buffer zone.
What are Proto Hiveminds and why do they keep attacking me?
Proto Hiveminds are intelligent infection entities that track the closest player and send waves of spore creatures to raid your location. They will pursue you across the map, so you need to either fortify your base with defenses or keep moving to avoid becoming their target.
Why do infected animals make the problem worse?
When regular animals catch the sickness, they transform into special infected creatures that create additional mounds, multiplying the infection spread. Prevent this by keeping animals away from infected zones, or cull them before they can be converted.
What's the difference between normal spore creatures and Overcharged Calamities?
Overcharged Calamities spawn after you suffer many defeats and are much more dangerous—they turn pitch black and move significantly faster than standard infected creatures. Avoid engaging them directly until you have better equipment and defenses.
Do infected creatures disappear if I leave the area?
No—infected monsters do not despawn when you walk away from them, so they can follow you or establish themselves near your base. You need to actively eliminate them rather than relying on distance to make them vanish.
Does this mod work with Create mod?
Yes, the data pack adds special crafting recipes and machines when Create is installed, giving you additional tools to fight the infection. Check your crafting menu for new Create-compatible options.
Can I use weapons from Better Combat with this mod?
Yes, Better Combat compatibility gives weapons extra reach, which can help you clear infected blocks and fight creatures from a safer distance.
What happens if I play with Alex's Mobs?
Animals from Alex's Mobs can catch the fungal sickness and spread it just like vanilla animals, so you need to protect them or manage them carefully to prevent additional mound generation.
How do infected creatures get hungry and what do they eat?
Infected creatures gradually lose hunger over time and must consume biomass blocks to survive. If they cannot find biomass to eat, they will eventually die, so controlling biomass spread in your area can help reduce the creature population.
