Spell Codex Irons Spells N Spellbooks Addon Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I start using Spell Codex if I already have Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks?
Open your action bar (default: ` key) to see the Spell Codex interface. You'll need to find or create Codex Pages, then absorb them by right-clicking to add spells to your personal codex. Once a spell is discovered, you can unlock its tier by spending experience points and matching ink.
Where do I get my first Codex Pages?
Find Codex Pages in world loot chests, convert existing spell scroll drops into pages, or imprint Empty Codex Pages at the Scroll Forge workstation. Right-click any page or scroll to absorb it into your codex collection.
Why can't I cast spells from my scroll wheel or inventory anymore?
Spell Codex locks all casting to the action bar for progression control. You must unlock spells in your codex, assign them to action bar slots, and cast only from there—this prevents bypassing the tier system.
What does matching ink do and how do I get it?
Matching ink (colored by magic school) is required to unlock spell tiers alongside experience points. Recycle spare Codex Pages inside an Alchemist Cauldron to regain ink, or find it in loot.
Do school focus items actually help unlock spells faster?
Yes—holding a matching school focus in your hand gives a 25% experience discount when unlocking tiers for that school, making progression noticeably faster.
How do I get more action bar slots?
Equip empty Spellbooks in your Curios accessory slots to expand your available action bar slots. Each equipped spellbook adds more room for assigned spells.
Can I undo spell unlocks if I make a mistake?
Yes, use the respec mechanic in your codex interface to refund spent experience points and reassign your spells differently.
What if I unlock a spell I don't want to use?
Unlocked spells stay in your codex permanently, but you only need to assign the ones you want to your action bar slots. Unused spells take no resources or space.
Can I move my action bar, mana display, or casting bar around the screen?
Yes, the mod includes HUD position adjustment options so you can customize where the action bar, mana group, and casting bar appear on your screen.
Is there a guide built into the mod if I get stuck?
Yes, the Spell Codex interface has an in-game guide button with visual steps explaining spell progression, discovery, and all core features.
