How to Use Stack Upgrades and Stack Downgrades

Increasing Stack Size

Stack upgrades raise how many items fit in a single backpack slot. The ladder is:

• Stack Upgrade Starter Tier
• Stack Upgrade Tier 1
• Stack Upgrade Tier 2
• Stack Upgrade Tier 3
• Stack Upgrade Tier 4
• Stack Upgrade Omega Tier

You do not have to craft each tier from raw materials. Use the conversion recipes to jump upward: Stack Upgrade Conversion: Starter Tier to Tier 1, Starter Tier to Tier 2, Starter Tier to Tier 3, Starter Tier to Tier 4, Tier 1 to Tier 2, Tier 1 to Tier 3, Tier 1 to Tier 4, Tier 2 to Tier 3, Tier 2 to Tier 4, and Tier 3 to Tier 4. Each conversion consumes the lower-tier upgrade and outputs the higher one.

Reducing Stack Size

If a stack upgrade is too large for what you are storing, use Stack Downgrade Tier 1, Stack Downgrade Tier 2, or Stack Downgrade Tier 3. These lower the stack limit so you can fit more distinct items into the backpack without wasting space on oversized stacks.

Place the stack upgrade into an upgrade slot of the backpack. The effect applies immediately to how items are stored in that backpack. Combine stack upgrades with Pickup Upgrade or Advanced Pickup Upgrade so incoming items land in the enlarged stacks automatically.
