How to Process, Craft, and Swap Tools from Inside a Backpack

Smelting and Cooking On the Go

Install an Auto-smelting Upgrade, Auto-blasting Upgrade, or Auto-smoking Upgrade to process items inside the backpack. The base versions are Smelting Upgrade, Blasting Upgrade, and Smoking Upgrade. Each one applies the corresponding furnace, blast furnace, or smoker recipe to items stored in the backpack.

A Crafting Upgrade adds a crafting grid to the backpack interface, letting you craft without placing down a crafting table. A Stonecutter Upgrade does the same for stonecutter recipes. An Anvil Upgrade lets you repair and combine items using anvil recipes directly from the backpack.

Compacting and Converting

A Compacting Upgrade turns items into their compacted forms, such as nuggets into ingots or ingots into blocks. The Advanced Compacting Upgrade handles more complex conversions.

An Alchemy Upgrade or Advanced Alchemy Upgrade processes items using alchemy-style recipes. A Tank Upgrade stores fluids inside the backpack, and a Pump Upgrade or Advanced Pump Upgrade moves those fluids in or out. An Experience Pump Upgrade handles experience instead.

Swapping and Catching

A Tool Swapper Upgrade or Advanced Tool Swapper Upgrade automatically switches the tool in your hand based on what you are breaking. A Mob Catcher Upgrade or Advanced Mob Catcher Upgrade captures mobs into the backpack. A Jukebox Upgrade or Advanced Jukebox Upgrade plays music from discs stored inside. An Everlasting Upgrade keeps the backpack from being destroyed. A Battery Upgrade stores energy for upgrades that need it.
