How to Increase Backpack Storage Capacity

Storage growth comes from Stack Upgrade items. The line runs Stack Upgrade Starter Tier, Stack Upgrade Tier 1, Stack Upgrade Tier 2, Stack Upgrade Tier 3, Stack Upgrade Tier 4, and finally Stack Upgrade Omega Tier. Each tier raises how many items fit in a single slot, so a slot that held 64 can hold far more once higher tiers are installed.

Converting Between Tiers

You do not have to craft every tier from scratch. The registry includes conversion items: Stack Upgrade Conversion: Starter Tier to Tier 1, Starter Tier to Tier 2, Starter Tier to Tier 3, Starter Tier to Tier 4, Tier 1 to Tier 2, Tier 1 to Tier 3, Tier 1 to Tier 4, Tier 2 to Tier 3, Tier 2 to Tier 4, and Tier 3 to Tier 4. Use the conversion that matches the tier you currently have and the tier you want. This lets you keep your existing stack upgrade and push it upward.

Going Back Down

If you need to reverse a conversion, use Stack Downgrade Tier 1, Stack Downgrade Tier 2, or Stack Downgrade Tier 3 to step a stack upgrade back to a lower tier.

Backpack Tier Upgrades

Separately from stack upgrades, the backpack itself can be upgraded. The recipe type sophisticatedcore:upgrade_next_tier handles moving a Backpack to a Copper Backpack, then Iron Backpack, Gold Backpack, Diamond Backpack, and Netherite Backpack. The sophisticatedbackpacks:backpack_upgrade and sophisticatedbackpacks:smithing_backpack_upgrade recipe types cover the higher-tier transitions. Higher backpack tiers give more slots, and stack upgrades multiply what each slot holds.
