How to Craft and Wear Your First Backpack

Crafting the Backpack

Start with the basic Backpack. Its recipe is registered as sophisticatedbackpacks:basic_backpack, so it is the entry point for the whole progression. Once you have it, the other backpack tiers — Copper Backpack, Iron Backpack, Gold Backpack, Diamond Backpack, and Netherite Backpack — are reached through the sophisticatedcore:upgrade_next_tier recipe type, which means each tier upgrades from the previous one rather than being crafted from scratch.

Wearing and Opening It

Place the Backpack in your inventory, then equip it in the chest slot so it sits on your back. To open it, use the default backpack keybind while it is equipped, or place the block form down in the world and interact with it. Inside the interface you get a storage grid plus upgrade slots. Right-click or shift-click items to move them in and out; the same controls you use in a chest apply here.

Removing Items

To take items out, open the backpack and shift-click stacks into your inventory, or drag them manually. If you want to empty it quickly, the Deposit Upgrade and Advanced Deposit Upgrade push items from your inventory into the backpack, while the Pickup Upgrade and Advanced Pickup Upgrade pull nearby drops in automatically. The Restock Upgrade and Advanced Restock Upgrade do the reverse for your hotbar, refilling stacks you are running low on.
