How to Automate Pickup, Deposit and Restock

Pulling Items In

Install a Pickup Upgrade in the backpack to collect drops around you. The Advanced Pickup Upgrade extends this. For items on the ground further away, use the Magnet Upgrade or Advanced Magnet Upgrade. These run automatically as long as the backpack is equipped and the upgrade is in a slot.

Pushing Items Out

The Deposit Upgrade moves items from your inventory into the backpack. The Advanced Deposit Upgrade does the same with more control. If you want the backpack to feed items back into your hotbar, use the Restock Upgrade or Advanced Restock Upgrade — these refill stacks you are using so you do not run out mid-fight or mid-build. The Refill Upgrade and Advanced Refill Upgrade handle similar refill behavior for the items you rely on.

Filtering What Moves

Uncontrolled automation fills the backpack with junk. Add a Filter Upgrade or Advanced Filter Upgrade to restrict which items the pickup, magnet, or deposit upgrades touch. Pair a filter with a Void Upgrade or Advanced Void Upgrade to delete items you never want to keep, so they never take up a slot.

Processing On the Go

Once items are inside, upgrades like Smelting Upgrade, Auto-smelting Upgrade, Blasting Upgrade, Auto-blasting Upgrade, Smoking Upgrade, Auto-smoking Upgrade, Stonecutter Upgrade, Crafting Upgrade, Anvil Upgrade, Compacting Upgrade, and Advanced Compacting Upgrade let the backpack process or combine them without a trip back to a base.
