How to Add Upgrades to a Backpack

Upgrade Slots

Every backpack has upgrade slots in its interface. Open the backpack, then place an upgrade item into one of those slots. The upgrade activates immediately — no extra confirmation step. Upgrades are items in the registry, so you craft them like anything else and then slot them in.

Common Upgrade Categories

Storage and stacking: Stack Upgrade Starter Tier, Stack Upgrade Tier 1 through Stack Upgrade Tier 4, and Stack Upgrade Omega Tier. Use the Stack Upgrade Conversion items to move a stack upgrade from one tier to a higher one without losing it.
Automation: Pickup Upgrade, Advanced Pickup Upgrade, Magnet Upgrade, Advanced Magnet Upgrade, Deposit Upgrade, Advanced Deposit Upgrade, Restock Upgrade, Advanced Restock Upgrade, Refill Upgrade, Advanced Refill Upgrade.
Filtering and voiding: Filter Upgrade, Advanced Filter Upgrade, Void Upgrade, Advanced Void Upgrade.
Processing: Smelting Upgrade, Auto-smelting Upgrade, Blasting Upgrade, Auto-blasting Upgrade, Smoking Upgrade, Auto-smoking Upgrade, Stonecutter Upgrade, Crafting Upgrade, Anvil Upgrade, Compacting Upgrade, Advanced Compacting Upgrade.
