Understand Skill Requirements for Gear

How Gear Locking Works

Armor, weapons, and tools are locked behind specific skill level requirements. You cannot equip or use items until you meet their threshold. Check tooltips on any gear to see the exact skill and level needed.

Checking Requirements

1. Hover over any tool or armor piece in your inventory to view its tooltip.

2. Look for the skill requirement line—it will specify which skill (Mining, Defense, Slaying, etc.) and the minimum level needed.

3. Compare to your current level in the Tab menu or HUD.

4. Plan your progression by identifying which skills to prioritize for the gear you want.

Progression Tiers

Gear typically unlocks in tiers: stone tools early, iron mid-game, diamond at higher levels, and Netherite at endgame. Each tier requires higher skill levels across relevant skills. For example, Defense skill gates access to better armor, while Mining gates pickaxe upgrades.

Strategic Leveling

Focus on skills that unlock gear you need immediately. If you want better armor, prioritize Defense. If you need better tools, focus on Mining, Woodcutting, or Excavating depending on your needs.
