Simple Voice Radio Plugin FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I get my first radio block?
Use the command /give to receive a radio block item, then place it on the ground. You can also check the crafting recipe with /view_craft to craft one manually if the server has recipes enabled.
Why can't my friend hear me on the radio?
Make sure both radios are set to the exact same frequency channel—use Sneak + Right-Click to change channels. Also check that your radio is in Input mode (for speaking) and your friend's is in Output mode (for listening), or vice versa.
How do I increase radio range?
Stack lightning rods on top of your radio block; each rod extends the transmission distance across additional chunks. Taller antenna towers broadcast farther, so experiment with height to reach distant bases.
Can I broadcast music from my jukebox to other players?
Yes—place a radio block directly above a jukebox playing a custom disc, and it will automatically switch to Listen mode and stream the music to all Output radios tuned to that frequency.
What happens if lightning strikes my radio?
A direct lightning strike will burn out the antenna and destroy the radio block, switching it to Destroyed mode and deactivating it completely. Build lightning rod protection or place radios in covered areas to prevent this.
How does redstone frequency mode work?
When redstone frequency mode is active, the radio's channel changes dynamically based on the redstone power level it receives, letting you switch channels with redstone signals instead of manually clicking.
Do players need to download a resource pack to see or use radios?
No—the mod uses display entities to show radio blocks without requiring any client-side downloads, so it works seamlessly on Paper servers with proximity voice chat.
Can I broadcast audio files or streams from the internet?
Yes—use /play_audio file to broadcast files from the plugin's audio folder, or /play_audio url to stream from a web link. Specify a frequency or use 'all' to reach every tuned radio on the server.
How do I know what frequency someone is using?
There's no built-in frequency scanner, so you'll need to coordinate with teammates beforehand or try common channels. Write down your base frequencies in a shared document to avoid confusion.
Will this mod lag my server?
The mod is designed to work through existing proximity voice systems without heavy overhead, but performance depends on how many active radios and audio streams you're running—monitor server load if you have dozens of radios broadcasting simultaneously.
