Silken Depths Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need to create a new world to see Silken Depths features?
Yes, new biomes and world generation features only appear in newly generated chunks. Existing terrain in old worlds won't change unless you explore ungenerated areas far from your spawn point.
Where do I find Pale Gardens?
Pale Gardens generate naturally throughout the Overworld like any other biome. They're recognizable by their distinctive pale wood trees and darker atmosphere—explore different areas or use a biome locator mod if you're having trouble finding one.
What's the difference between regular caves and Infested Caves?
Infested Caves are a specific cave biome decorated with Pale Moss blocks, hanging moss, and spider egg decorations, making them visually distinct and spookier than standard caves. They generate underground like normal caves but have unique theming.
How do I know if I'm in a Yellowstone biome with geysers?
Yellowstone biomes feature Potent Sulfur blocks that create active geysers—you'll see steam venting and distinctive sulfur formations on the surface and underground. The terrain has a volcanic appearance with these mineral deposits.
Can I farm Cinnabar or does it only spawn naturally?
Cinnabar spawns as natural mineral patches in Stony Spires biomes and can be mined with a pickaxe. It doesn't regenerate, so treat it as a finite resource you harvest from the landscape.
Do the new biomes replace old ones or generate alongside them?
The new biomes generate alongside existing vanilla biomes as part of the natural world generation. Old biomes still appear, but you'll encounter Pale Gardens, Moonlight Valleys, and other new areas as you explore.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues?
The mod adds new world generation features but shouldn't cause significant performance problems on most systems. If you experience lag, try reducing your render distance or checking for mod conflicts with other world generation mods.
Does Silken Depths work with other world generation mods?
It can work alongside other mods, but conflicts may occur if multiple mods heavily modify the same biomes or cave generation. Test your mod combination in a new world to ensure features generate correctly.
Are Pale Moss blocks useful for anything besides decoration?
Pale Moss blocks function primarily as decorative elements that define the aesthetic of Infested Caves and other biomes. Check your mod's crafting recipes to see if they have any functional uses in your specific version.
Can I disable specific biomes or features I don't want?
Most mod features can be toggled through the mod's configuration file. Check your config folder for Silken Depths settings to customize which biomes or generation features are active in your world.
