How to Safely Neutralize Creepers with Shears

Preparation

Craft or find shears before engaging creepers. Shears are your primary tool for neutralizing these threats without triggering explosions.

Neutralization Process

Approach a creeper cautiously and use your shears on it (right-click). The creeper will become neutralized and stop its explosive behavior. A neutralized creeper stands harmlessly and can no longer detonate.

Collecting Drops

Neutralized creepers drop special items that regular creeper kills don't provide. These unique drops are valuable crafting materials, making shearing more rewarding than traditional combat. Collect these materials for later use in recipes.

Combat Tips

Since knockback is restricted to sprinting attacks and specific weapons, you cannot easily knock creepers away with regular hits. Shearing is the safest approach, especially early in survival when armor is limited. Always keep shears in your hotbar when exploring at night or in dark areas where creepers spawn.
