Rapid Industrial Smelter Data Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Do I need a regular furnace anymore or can I use blast furnaces for everything?
You can use blast furnaces for the new materials this mod adds (cobblestone, sand, wet sponges), but vanilla ore smelting still works the same way in both furnaces—the mod doesn't change that. Use whichever furnace you prefer; the blast furnace is just faster for the expanded recipes.
Why isn't my blast furnace smelting cobblestone?
Make sure you've placed the cobblestone in the top input slot and the blast furnace has fuel (coal, charcoal, or lava buckets). The furnace needs to be powered to process any materials.
Can I smelt other building blocks like dirt or gravel in the blast furnace?
No, this mod only expands blast furnaces to handle cobblestone, sand, and wet sponges. Other blocks remain restricted to their vanilla smelting rules.
Does double speed mean it cooks twice as fast as a regular furnace?
Yes—sand and other new materials cook at double the normal speed when processed in a blast furnace compared to a standard furnace.
Will this mod break my existing ore smelting setup?
No, all vanilla ore and metal smelting behaviors stay exactly the same. Your current furnace chains will work without any changes.
Can I use hoppers to automate the blast furnace with this mod?
Yes, hoppers work normally with blast furnaces—feed materials into the top and collect outputs from the bottom just like vanilla.
What's the best fuel to use for smelting large amounts of sand or cobblestone?
Any fuel works (coal, charcoal, lava buckets), but lava buckets burn longest if you're processing huge stacks. Choose based on what you have available.
Does this mod work with other furnace mods or custom furnace blocks?
This mod only affects the vanilla blast furnace, so compatibility with other furnace mods depends on how they're coded—check with those mod authors if you're using multiple mods together.
Can I smelt wet sponges in a regular furnace or only in blast furnaces?
This mod lets you dry wet sponges in blast furnaces specifically. Regular furnaces don't support this recipe.
Is there a way to see which blocks are compatible with the blast furnace?
Yes, the mod includes an advancement screen that displays all the blocks you can now smelt in a blast furnace.
