Cut Wooden Planks into Slabs Using a Stonecutter
Setting Up Your Stonecutter
Place a stonecutter block on a solid surface. Make sure you have wooden planks in your inventory—any wood type works, including oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, mangrove, and cherry planks.
Cutting Slabs
1. Right-click the stonecutter to open its interface
2. Place your wooden planks into the material input slot (usually the left side)
3. Look at the output grid on the right side of the interface
4. Click the slab option to produce a wooden slab
5. Collect your slab from the output slot
Each plank yields one slab. You can repeat this process as many times as you need. The stonecutter will keep the planks in the input slot until you remove them, so you can cut multiple slabs from the same stack without reloading.
Tips
Use this method when you need many slabs quickly—it's faster than crafting slabs at a crafting table, especially for large building projects. The stonecutter works with all wood types equally.
