Purpur Pack Stonecutter Cuts Wood Slabs and Stairs Data Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Do I need to install this as a mod or is it just a data pack?
This is a data pack, so you only need to drop it into your world's datapacks folder—no mod loader required. It works in vanilla Minecraft and on any server that supports data packs.
Which types of wood planks work in the stonecutter?
All vanilla wooden plank types work, including oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, mangrove, and cherry planks. The stonecutter treats them all the same way.
Can I cut planks from multiple wood types at once?
No, you need to process one plank type at a time in the stonecutter. Switch out your planks between batches to cut different wood types.
Why isn't the stonecutter showing slab and stair options?
Make sure you've placed wooden planks (not logs or wood blocks) into the stonecutter's input slot and that the data pack is enabled in your world settings. Check your datapacks folder to confirm the pack loaded.
Do I get the same number of slabs and stairs as I would from crafting?
The stonecutter produces the same output as regular crafting recipes—one plank makes one slab, and three planks make one stair. You don't lose or gain materials by using the stonecutter.
Will this data pack break my world if I remove it later?
No, the pack is safe to remove. Any slabs and stairs you've already cut will stay in your world; you just won't be able to cut new ones until you re-enable it.
Does this work on multiplayer servers?
Yes, you can add this data pack to any vanilla multiplayer server. All players will see the stonecutter recipes once the pack is loaded on the server.
Can I use the stonecutter to cut wood logs directly?
No, only wooden planks work in the stonecutter. You'll need to convert logs to planks first using a crafting table or furnace.
Does this mod conflict with other data packs or mods?
This data pack is lightweight and shouldn't conflict with most other packs or mods. If you experience issues, try disabling other data packs one at a time to isolate the problem.
Can I use the stonecutter to make other wood shapes like fences or doors?
No, this data pack only adds slab and stair recipes to the stonecutter. Other wood shapes still require traditional crafting methods.
