Find Text Overflow and Layout Bugs Using Pseudo Localization
Why Pseudo Localization Reveals Layout Issues
Pseudo Localization stretches and distorts text, making strings longer and wider than normal English. This stress-tests your UI by forcing text into tight spaces, revealing buttons that are too small, labels that get cut off, and tooltips that spill outside their containers.
Test Your Custom Menus
1. Enable Pseudo Localization in language settings
2. Navigate through every screen in your mod or custom map:
- Main menus and pause screens
- Inventory and container GUIs
- Chat and command feedback
- Sign text and item frames
3. Look for:
- Text bleeding outside button borders
- Overlapping labels or descriptions
- Truncated words (text cut mid-word)
- Misaligned text in centered or right-aligned fields
Fix Issues
If you find overflow, increase button width, reduce font size, or use text wrapping. Pseudo Localization acts as an early warning system—if your layout breaks here, it will definitely break with longer real languages like German or Russian.
