Pseudo Localization Language Pack Resource Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on pseudo localization?
Open your Language settings in the Minecraft menu, scroll through the language list, and select the pseudo localization option. Your text will immediately change to strange symbols and distorted characters.
Why does my custom font look broken with this pack?
Pseudo localization uses a wide mix of international characters and symbols to stress-test your font file. If glyphs are missing or rendering incorrectly, your font doesn't support those characters yet—this is exactly what the pack is designed to catch.
What are the hash IDs and how do I use them?
Each line of text gets a unique hash identifier so you can track it back to the source file. When you see a hash ID in-game, search your resource pack or mod files for that string to find and edit the exact text.
Can I use this on multiplayer servers?
Yes, but servers using the AuthMe plugin will reject your login if you're using pseudo localization. Switch back to a normal language before joining those servers, then you can switch back after.
Does this mod affect performance?
No, pseudo localization is just a resource pack that swaps text rendering—it has no impact on game performance or FPS.
Will pseudo localization break my mods or datapacks?
No, it only changes how text displays on your screen. Your mods, datapacks, and game logic work exactly the same.
How do I find text that's overflowing or cut off?
Enable pseudo localization and look through your menus and GUIs—text that spills out of buttons or boxes will be obvious because the distorted characters take up more space. Check your guides for detailed steps on testing specific screens.
Can I switch between pseudo localization and normal text easily?
Yes, just open your Language settings and pick a different language whenever you want. You can toggle back and forth as many times as you need.
Does this work with resource packs that change fonts?
Yes, pseudo localization works with any custom font resource pack. In fact, using them together is one of the main reasons to use pseudo localization—to see how your custom font handles unusual characters.
Why is my chat showing hash IDs instead of player names?
Pseudo localization replaces all text strings with hashes and distorted characters, including chat messages. This is normal and helps you identify which text strings in the game files control chat display.
