Prettier Parrots Resource Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Why do my parrots still look blocky after installing the pack?
You need to install either Optifine or the combination of Entity Texture Features and Entity Model Features mods for the new parrot models to display. Without these, the resource pack can only change textures, not shapes.
Do I need Optifine or can I use Entity Texture Features instead?
You can use either Optifine alone, or use Entity Texture Features paired with Entity Model Features together—both setups will work to display the remodeled parrots.
Where do I find toucans in the world?
Toucans spawn as parrot variants in jungle biomes, so explore jungle terrain the same way you would hunt for regular parrots and they'll appear among the wildlife.
Can I tame and breed the new toucan variants?
Yes, toucans use the same taming and breeding mechanics as vanilla parrots, so you can tame them with seeds and breed them together in your aviary.
Do the parrots have different colors like vanilla parrots?
Yes, the resource pack keeps the classic vanilla parrot colors (red, blue, green, cyan, and gray) while giving them new, more detailed bird-like shapes.
Will this pack work with other bird or animal mods?
This pack only reskins vanilla parrots and adds toucan variants, so it won't conflict with other mods, but those mods' animals won't receive the prettier treatment.
Do the new parrot models affect performance?
The detailed models require more rendering, but performance impact depends on your system and how many parrots are loaded—Optifine can help optimize this.
Can I use this pack on a multiplayer server?
Yes, resource packs are client-side, so you can use this on any server without needing the server to install it, though other players won't see the prettier parrots unless they install it too.
What if parrots look wrong or have missing textures?
Make sure your Entity Texture Features or Optifine is up to date, check that the resource pack is loaded above other packs in your list, and try reloading your world.
Do I need to update the pack when I update Minecraft?
Check the mod's page for compatibility notes—resource packs sometimes need updates for new Minecraft versions, but vanilla parrot changes are usually minor.
