Portals Relinked Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I link two portals together?
Apply the same color dye to both portal frames you want to connect. Once both portals share the same dye color, they will link to each other and ignore the standard vanilla portal travel rules.
Can I link portals in the same dimension or only across dimensions?
You can link portals either way—between the Nether and Overworld, or within the same dimension. The mod works for any combination as long as both portal frames have matching dye colors.
What happens if I dye two portals the same color in different locations?
Only one pair of portals per dye color can be linked at a time. If you try to create a second pair with the same color, the mod will not allow it—you must use a different dye color for each portal pair.
How do I unlink a portal or change its color?
Apply purple dye to the colored portal frame to clear its link and restore it to default vanilla behavior. You can then apply a different dye color to create a new link.
Do regular uncolored portals still work normally?
Yes, any portal frame that has not been dyed will behave exactly like a standard vanilla Nether portal and follow normal travel rules.
Can I have multiple linked portals connecting to the same location?
No, each dye color can only create one linked pair. If you need multiple portals to reach the same base, you must use different dye colors and create separate pairs.
What dye colors can I use to link portals?
You can use any standard Minecraft dye color except purple, which is reserved for unlinking portals. Each color creates its own independent portal link.
If I break a linked portal, does the other one stay linked?
The link persists based on the dye color applied to the frames. If you rebuild a portal frame and apply the same dye color, it will relink to its matching partner.
Do I need to dye the inside or outside of the portal frame?
Apply dye to the obsidian blocks that make up the portal frame itself. The exact application method follows standard Minecraft dye mechanics for blocks.
Does this mod affect performance or cause lag?
The mod is lightweight and only tracks portal links based on dye color, so it should not cause noticeable performance issues even with many linked portals.
